Cercanías is the primary commuter rail service of Spain, operated by the national rail company, Renfe. It has over 4000 kilometres of tracks throughout the most populated Spanish regions, therefore it is a vital service for many commuters.

The current Cercanías app has been outdated for many years, and user frustration is evident in the reviews. In this case study, we will identify the problems within the app and find a way to solve them through a redesign.
